Irondequoit Volunteer Ambulance Service Corp
Medical emergency service
Info
IVA is a not for profit, advanced life support provider, which has been providing emergent and non-emergent medical service to Irondequoit and surrounding communities for over 20 years. We are located near the intersection of Culver/Norton with our main area of coverage being the Ridge-Culver and Laurelton fire districts. We also provide mutual aid assistance to Sea-Breeze, Point pleasant, St Paul, Brighton, and West Webster Communities. Our organization was founded in August of 1982 as a basic life support service supporting the fire districts of East Irondequoit. In 1983 we became state certified and in 1986 became the first ambulance service in upstate NY to provide EMT-D level of care; adding EMT-Intermediate care later that same year. In 1990 we moved into the new facility at 2330 Norton Street and added full ALS support in 1992. Today we service a community of nearly 13,000 families; operating with a crew of 75+ career and volunteer personnel utilizing 2 full-sized ALS equipped ambulances and an ALS fly car (Medic-18). We operate in conjunction with local fire departments, state and county police agencies as well as the Irondequoit Police Department.
