Info
Established in 1970, The Genesee Center for the Arts and Education is located in an historic firehouse, built in 1895-1905. We are the only community visual arts center located within the City of Rochester. In 1974, the Center incorporated as a 501(c)3 not-for-profit educational institution. The Genesee Center for the Arts is really three organizations in one: a darkroom, a pottery workshop, a printing and book arts center as well as our galleries. We utilize our resources by organizing youth programs, offering classes to the general public, and also by renting space to individuals. There are no prerequisites for using the Center's facilities, though you must be a member to use some of the facilities. Local artists may utilize our facilities for displaying or selling their work. There's almost always an exhibition on at the Center and admission to most shows is free.
