BTU Special Events was founded in 1986 by Richard McDonald. The company began by offering service, bartenders for private parties. The bartending service was so exceptional that demand grew for BTU Special Events bartenders at corporate events and with caterers, who needed experienced staff for their events. The tuxedo-clad party professionals made each party a success, and expanded their assistance to include wait staff and clean up. BTU Special Events began offering more services and more specialties, including party rentals, coat check, valet parking evolving into complete event management company. In 1995, BTU Special Events was hired to staff the 1995 Ryder Cup in Rochester, NY. Over 1200 staff professionals worked in over 50 corporate tents, 6 production kitchens and 30 private parties over the course of the 8-day event, providing hospitality for over 10,000 guests. In 2003 BTU Special Events was hired to staff the PGA Championship in Rochester, NY. Over 260 bartenders and servers served hundreds of guests in over 40 corporate tents. Also in 2003, BTU Special Events moved into the ARTISANworks Art Gallery & Museum, one of the largest (40,000 sq. ft.) and most exciting collections of original artwork, sculpture and photography in the region. BTU provides onsite event planning, staffing services and catering for private and corporate events. For over two decades, BTU Special Events has served celebrities, governors, political luminaries and others, however, everyone gets red-carpet treatment at a BTU event. Today, BTU Special Events is one of Rochester's largest event planners rendering their expertise and services for more than 1,000 events each year.
