Sparkling Ponds Winery was born in 2005 when Tony Pomorski, Patty Rich and Bert Richnafsky realized their dream of buying a vineyard. The winery is in a serene, peaceful location with several ponds on the property, which is how it got its name of Sparkling Ponds. The property also has 20 acres of grapes, including concord, niagara, pinot noir, chardonnay, and sauvignon blanc. It lies on the Chautauqua County Wine Trail which winds along a 20 mile route next to Lake Erie. The Sparkling Ponds mission is to produce high quality wines utilizing the unique "Terrior" of the Lake Erie viticultural area. By incorporating the lakeshore's bedrock, minerals and brisk climate, Sparkling Ponds Winery infuses each bottle with distinctive crispness and finesse. Sparkling Ponds Ice Wine is among the best in the region and the winery will soon be specializing in the delicate art of champagne making with knowledge gained at the best champagne houses of France.
