EntopiaÔ is a name derived from the Greek word entopizo (v. to locate or bring to light) and the more commonly recognized utopia (n. any ideal place or state). We chose this name because we think our software products and services are the perfect vehicle for discovering valuable enterprise knowledge. Entopia was founded in 1999 when entrepreneur Kamran Elahian of Global Catalyst Partners and Lionel Baraban joined forces to launch Entopia (formerly called KangarooNet). Elahian and Baraban had the goal of developing a tool to capture and collect electronic data so that those engaged in research could manage their own "chaos" of information more effectively. This resulted in the KangarooNet product, Smart Pouch. Today, Entopia is a global software company developing rapidly deployable, innovative solutions for information discovery. With Entopia solutions, enterprises can reduce costs, improve productivity and enhance competitive advantage by leveraging business context, concepts and social activity to automatically and dynamically discover and deliver truly-relevant content and experts into the business process.
