Petersburg, Virginia: Roper Brothers Lumber Company, Inc., headquartered in Petersburg, Virginia, today announced that it had signed a Letter of Intent to purchase Taylor Brothers Lumber Company, Inc. Taylor Brothers has operations in Lynchburg and Bedford, Virginia. The transaction is expected close by the end of July. Taylor Brothers will operate as Taylor Brothers, a Roper Lumber Company. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Roper Brothers stated that Taylor Brothers' annual revenues were in excess of $33 million and that the annual revenues of the combined companies would be over $190 million placing Roper Brothers Lumber Company among the top 30 "Pro-Dealers" within the continental United States and the largest independent "Pro-Dealer" headquartered and operating in Virginia. Roper Brothers stated that the combined companies would have over 500 employees. Barry Brockwell, Executive Vice President and CFO of Roper Brothers, noted that Taylor Brothers was an extremely successful independent "Pro-Dealer" that had established itself as a market leader in Lynchburg. He added that the addition of the Lynchburg and surrounding markets complimented Roper Lumber's Virginia presence and would provide a platform for further growth in the western portion of the state. Mr. Brockwell noted that the management of Taylor Brothers would remain with the company including Rob Taylor, Taylor Brothers' current President and Owner. Rob Taylor noted that the cultures of the two companies were very similar including management philosophies regarding customer relationships. He added that the two companies combined would bring additional benefit to both customers and employees of Taylor Brothers.
