The owners of Pies & Plates also own Prepped & Ready, a retail store and meal prep business located on Marion Avenue in downtown Punta Gorda. I stress the word TEAM because our employees get along with each other and have a great spirit of cooperation. Any one of them will tell you that we work hard and non stop, but it is a fun and pleasant place to work. Currently, Pies & Plates serves breakfast and lunch Monday - Saturday. We are open at 8 am and close at 6 pm but will soon begin offering dinner as well and will be open until 9:00 pm. Now, we serve breakfast from 7:45 to 10:30 am. Lunch is served from 11-2 pm and we serve coffee, desserts, gelato throughout the day. Please see our menu on this web site. Pies & Plates is closed on Sundays! Everyone at Pies & Plates is cross-trained to do multiple jobs. So, even if you are hired to work in the kitchen, you will also be trained to work in the espresso bar and even the retail part of the store. If you are hired as a barista (espresso maker) you'll be taught how to bake muffins, etc. This helps keep your job dynamic and interesting. Also, the more jobs you can do, the more valuable you are as an employee (and the more valuable an employee the higher the pay!) In short, if you are going to groan and moan when we want to teach you a new task or give you additional responsibility, don't bother applying for this job! Our employees are paid an hourly rate that is determined by their prior job experience, special training, dependability, flexibility and their job duties. Most but not all employees participate in our "tip sharing" program. All tips are put into a common fund and distributed once a month according to the number of hours an employee has worked. The tips usually increase your pay by about $1 extra per hour or more but this not guaranteed. The tips are better during season, etc. Our goal is to not only hire employees but to KEEP our employees. We believe that means that we must train you well so that you are comfortable and confident about the tasks you are asked to perform. It also means that we must pay you competitive wages and reward exceptional performance and loyalty.
