Founded in 1994, Lifestream Technologies, Inc., is a consumer healthcare company that develops, markets and sells a line of cholesterol monitors. Based in Post Falls, Idaho, Lifestream is listed on the OTC Bulletin Board under LFTC. Lifestream Technologies® developed the first home cholesterol monitor incorporating an embedded smart card reader. Designed for the 100 million consumers with elevated cholesterol levels, the Company's revolutionary technology allows consumers to regularly monitor their cholesterol, rapidly, accurately, easily, and inexpensively. One person dies every 33 seconds from heart disease, America's number one killer. The Company's line of cholesterol monitors assists health conscious consumers monitor their risk of heart disease, specifically by helping them determine if their cholesterol-lowering diet, exercise and/or drug therapies are effective. Now consumers can test their cholesterol as often as they like, in the convenience of their own home, much like consumers who monitor their weight, blood pressure, or glucose. By inserting The Data ConcernÔ personal health card into the product's smart card reader, consumers can securely store up to 200 test results for subsequent retrieval and trend analysis, readily compute an average total cholesterol level, and share those results with their physicians and pharmacists. To date, the Company has raised nearly $35 million to assist in the development of its core technology and infrastructure. The Company employs a strong, experienced management team headed by Christopher Maus, founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Maus has extensive leadership experience in early-stage technology companies. The Company has also bolstered its executive team with the addition of seasoned professionals who are well equipped for the immediate and long-term tasks at hand, bringing relevant medical, device, technology, consumer product and financial backgrounds to the group. Lifestream has negotiated important strategic and distribution alliances, including an exclusive license and supply contract with Roche Diagnostics to provide diagnostic modules, dry chemistry test strips and calibration keys required for its line of cholesterol monitors. This agreement and additional contract manufacturing relationships have enabled continued cost reductions and quality improvements as the Company continues building broad professional and consumer distribution. Lifestream has distribution agreements with major catalogue retailers, several national department store chains, and chain drug stores. As part of Lifestream's rollout strategy, it will continue to focus on the chain drug and mass merchandiser classes of trade for its line of consumer cholesterol monitors. With a profitable consumer-centric business model rooted in health diagnostics, behavioral feedback, and smart card connectivity, Lifestream is well-positioned to take a leadership position in the evolving medical diagnostics market. The Company plans to use its proprietary smart card technology and the Microsoft® Smart Card in other consumer health test devices to monitor blood pressure and glucose, as well as other internet appliances.
