Info

Plymouth United Methodist Church is involved in many outreach and mission projects which benefit our local community, neighboring areas and people around the world. Here are some projects we are involved in and some ways you can help! If you'd like to help, call the church office at 508-747-1642. Plymouth Interfaith Clergy Association - We work with the churches in Plymouth to foster an interfaith spirit in our community and to increase our effectiveness in serving the community in which we live and work. Habitat For Humanity - Our church is a Habitat Covenant Church; we have helped in several local projects and are looking forward to help in the building of the first Habitat home in Plymouth. Members of our church serve on the Greater Plymouth Habitat Board and help by serving lunches, raising money, banging nails and painting. Park Temple Methodist Church in Cuba - Several people from our church have traveled to Cuba to visit our sister church in Cuba. Letters and gifts were exchanged while we brought much needed medicine supplies and love from our church. We are in covenant with this church . We have hosted Pastor Oscar and other members of the congregation at our church. As we build bridges between the nations, we have grown in our appreciation for ministry in the Latino tradition. Regular trips are being planned. Ghana, West Africa - We are developing a relationship with the Methodist Church of Ghana, The Bishop of Ghana has visited our church and Jenny Styers has visited Ghana with a team from our area. Building projects include a new church, and a school. Bridges are being built with the Ghanan people and a Vacation Bible School is being planned for this summer. MainSpring Homeless Shelter in Stoughton - Members of our church are helping to furnish this new shelter along with our Cluster of United Methodist Churches. Plymouth Area Food Pantries - On the first Sunday of the month and at other designated times we collect canned goods and other non-perishable items to bring to local food pantries on a regular basis. You can contribute by leaving items in the large cabinet in the Atrium at any time. Plymouth Area Coalition for the Homeless - We donate food and other resources to children and families and contribute financially through special fund raisers. The Department of Social Services - At Christmas time, we host a "Giving Tree" that offers us an opportunity to give to local families in need. Samaritan Fund - On Communion Sundays a special offering is received to help enable ministry to people in special need of food or other services at the discretion of the Pastor. National Missions - Members of our congregation have traveled to Maine to repair houses in Rural Maine and lend a hand at the state-wide food distribution center for shelters. Others have traveled to Missouri, South Carolina, Kentucky, and Ohio on Short Term Volunteer Mission trips. United Methodist Board of Global Ministries - This Board is a major arm of the United Methodist church and serves people in need in our country and around the world. Our United Methodist Committee on Relief is usually one of the first on sight in situations of disaster. Through these ministries our church offers food, shelter, education and a hospital to people in need, provides hope for those in poverty, disasters, abusive situations, and in oppressive places, and shares the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ with the world.
