Plano Police Department

The Plano Police Department is a progressive organization made up of 345 sworn officers, 154 non-sworn employees (authorized), and 78 non-sworn part time employees who are dedicated professionals. The Department offers traditional law enforcement services to our community as well as innovative approaches to community problems. The Plano Police Department is a nationally accredited law enforcement agency and has been since 1992. Chief's Office consists of the Chief, Assistant Chief, Administrative Affairs Manager, Administrative Operations Manager, Administrative Lieutenant, Legal Advisor, Professional Standards Unit, Public Information Officer, Publishing, and four Sr. Administrative Assistants. Patrol Services Division is the largest Division in the Police Department, with a strength of one captain, six lieutenants, 19 sergeants, 163 officers, and 19 non-sworn employees. The Division is made up of the following Units; Patrol, and Canine. Criminal Investigative Services Division is divided into 2 sections, Crimes Against Persons and Crimes Against Property. The Division is headed by one captain, and each section by a lieutenant. Crimes Against Persons Section is comprised of the following Units; Family Violence, Narcotics, and Sex Crimes. The Crimes Against Property Section consists of Auto Theft/Burglary, General, Financial Crimes, Intelligence and Juvenile Units. A total of seven sergeants, 60 officers, and 10 non-sworn employees. Support Services Division is comprised of seven specialized Units providing essential support to the Department. They are the Warrant Unit, Crime Prevention Unit, Neighborhood Police Officers, School Liaison Unit, Homeland Security Unit, Traffic Unit and the Training Unit. This division is headed by one captain, three lieutenants, eight sergeants, 63 officers and 10 civilian employees.
