Internet49 provides an array of Internet services and Internet49 will work to find the services that meet your businesses unique needs. Internet49 has a proven track record of offering quality Internet services throughout Northern California. We are locally owned and operated and provide a higher quality of services than big national providers. Does DSL require special equipment? Yes. DSL requires that the customer use a special DSL modem or router. Internet49 sells the DSL modem or router you need to get connected to DSL. There are different options available based on the type of service you purchase. Pricing is different for each of the equipment options and will be determined by your unique needs. Wireless routers/access points are also available. Who installs this equipment? Our equipment comes with easy to follow self-install instructions. Most people, even those with limited computer experience, are capable of setting up and installing their DSL modem without any help from us. Of course, should you need help, our technical support staff will assist you over the telephone. Should you need further help, we have technicians available to come to your house/business and complete the install for you. There is a nominal fee for having a technician come out to assist with the install. Does DSL service run on the same line as my telephone service? Yes! Our DSL service shares your existing telephone line, so, if you have a second line that you've been using for dial-up Internet, you will be able to cancel that line. The only requirement is that your phone line be provided by SBC/ATT. Phone lines provided by Verizon, SureWest Communications (Roseville Telephone), Frontier Communications (Citizens), Volcano, O1, etc., will not be able to provision service. Does my wiring need to change to support DSL service? Typically, no. Because each house is different, and some have had changes made to their internal wiring over the years, there's no real way to guarantee that your inside wiring is compatible with DSL. Internet49 can only provide service to the locations "DMARC", or the outside wirings demarcation point. (Usually a box on the rear or side of the location). If we test the service to that point, and it works, wiring beyond that is considered inside wiring. If it is determined that inside wiring is bad, the customer will have to option of having the wiring repaired themselves, or Internet49 can request SBC/ATT send a technician out to service the inside wiring. There is a charge from SBC/ATT for that service call, which Internet49 will pass along to the customer. Can I buy my own equipment and install it myself? We prefer that customers buy and use Internet49 authorized equipment. If customers purchase their own equipment, Internet49 will not take any responsibility for installing, troubleshooting, or repairing the equipment.
