Illini Community Hospital serves seven counties in West Central Illinois. The Hospital is located in the Pike County seat of Pittsfield, a two-hour drive from St. Louis, only five hours from Chicago and Kansas City, and one hour from Springfield, the State capitol. In the late 1930's, a group of civic-minded Pike County area citizens conceived the idea to build a community hospital in Pittsfield, Ill. Thanks to their leadership and the support of area residents, Illini Community Hospital was dedicated on January 25, 1942. The first patient was admitted the following day. Today, Illini continues to serve the health care needs of west central Illinois residents as a Critical Access Hospital licensed by the State of Illinois. The hospital is accredited by the Health Facilities Accreditation Program and is a member of the American Hospital Association and the Illinois Hospital Association. As a not-for-profit hospital, funds remaining after expenses are reinvested in equipment, personnel, and facilities to continually improve the quality of care for the patients. This year Illini will embark on an exciting new era in its history, thanks to the generosity of a new generation of caring area residents. Groundbreaking for Phase I of a multi-million dollar multi-year expansion and renovation project was held on May 10, 2004. The first phase - one of four - in the Master Facility Plan was completed in the summer of 2005. BlessingCare Corporation d/b/a Illini Community Hospital is part of a larger health care organization. Illini's parent company is Blessing Corporate Services (BCS). BCS provides strategic planning expertise, financial guidance, and other specialty services to its affiliates.
