Slate Bistro is...Certified Executive Chef Dave Sgro and Cheryl Tacka, and we opened our doors Monday, August 6, 2012. We met while working together in the South Hills and we are both former restaurant owners. Dave's previous venture was at LaScala in the Cultural District of Pittsburgh, and Cheryl was in West Virginia. We have wanted to do something together for some time and finally got the opportunity this summer. We catagorize our menu as innovative American and try to bring a uniqueness to our menu and specials. Our menu changes monthly as we have many interesting ideas gathered throughout our cumulative 25 years of experience. This philosophy is the origin of our name--we have a "clean slate" to work with every month. However, because we have been in Italian-style cooking for so long, we frequently receive requests for old favorites from previous clients. To honor those requests, we will be adding Italian favorites to our monthly menus and specials. All of Slate's desserts are homemade and our staff is pleasant and knowledgable. We are located conveniently, but quietly, near South Hills Village and open for dinner Monday through Saturday, 5 to 10PM. We invite you to join us for the first time or return for an ever-changing twist on comfortable food in a cozy setting. We can also be found on Urban Spoon and Yelp.
