Originally named the Clinical Laboratories of Central Blood Bank of Pittsburgh, ITxM Diagnostics has been providing services to regional, national and international markets since the early 1970s. Known today as ITxM Diagnostics, this subsidiary of The Institute For Transfusion Medicine works with physicians and institutions to draw upon all of ITxM's resources. Its primary function is to provide diagnostic, consultative and educational support for referral tests in the areas of hemostasis, thrombosis, infectious diseases, and immunology. ITxM Diagnostics consists of two principal components, the Coagulation Reference Laboratory and the Molecular and Immunodiagnostics Laboratory (MIDL). Together they provide a reference source that allows greater access to a comprehensive set of diagnostic, consultative, and educational services in the areas of coagulation and molecular immunodiagnostics.
