Info

Sabor cubano opened its doors to the valley of the sun in december of 2007, Located in 2030 West Camelback Rd in Phoenix. Sabor Cubano is a small family business. The Carralero family comes from two modest and hard working families united in marriage in 1976. My husband and I graduated from the Ministry of Education as mathematic and biology teachers and worked for 15 years in our natal province of Victoria de Las Tunas. From our union two girls were born, Sandra and Anna. Then in 1993, my husband decided to abandon the island as a Balsero (Rafter) arriving to the coast of Miami in October. Later, in April of 1999 my two daughters and I arrived to the American territory legally, after winning a visa from the annual American visa lottery from United States Immigration Department. At first we lived in the state of California were my husband already resided, and in 2001 we decided to move to the state of Arizona where we worked for 4 years for The Bernard Allison Company, my husband worked as a construction worker and I as a housekeeper. In 2007 we had the opportunity to start our own business, and we decided to open a restaurant and offer our traditional Cuban food, including refreshing beverages such as Mojito, Cuba Libre, Cubanito and Saocos. We offer a variety of plates such as Ropa Vieja (Shredded beef), Puerco Asado (Roast Pork), Rabo Encendido (Oxtail Stew), Chilindron de Carnero (Sheep Casserole), seafood, and our delicious Chicken Casserole and our prestigious Arroz con Pollo (chicken with yellow rice cooked together). All of these plates come with black beans and white rice or Moros y Cristianos (a combination of white rice and black beans cooked together). All of our food is prepared and cooked daily as if it was home made. For dessert, we offer our creamy and delicious Cuban Flan (evaporated and condensed milk, eggs and vanilla, combined to the perfection). Our flan won an award for the best flan of Phoenix. Moreover, we also offer small snacks for birthday parties, family and work events, etc. Some of these snacks include our traditional ensalada fria (chilled salad with chicken and pineapple), croquettes, and many other Cuban appetizers.
