Positively Pewaukee, a non-profit organization formed in 1996, dedicates time and professional talents to help the community develop in a proficient and beneficial way. This volunteer group is currently made up of many individuals and businesses, but needs you to get involved to help Pewaukee continue to become a prosperous, yet friendly community. Businesses located in downtown Pewaukee and surrounding areas benefit from the efforts of Positively Pewaukee. Members are constantly aware of preserving the natural beauty and tranquility of the area while striving to attract new businesses and uplift current ones. Volunteers get involved as much or as little as they wish and work in cooperation with other Pewaukee organizations to present a positive image to visitors and residents alike. Because Positively Pewaukee is a non-profit organization, funding comes from local governments, businesses and individual citizens. Fund-raising activities take place several times a year. Pewaukee is part of the Wisconsin Main Street Program. This program, established in 1987, encourages and supports the historical and economical redevelopment of traditional business districts of downtown areas in Wisconsin. The program's four point approach is reflected in the committees listed. There are several ways to get involved. Join a committee . . . Organization Committee Get involved in strengthening the entire program by working with volunteers, newsletter development, fundraising, coordinating annual Main Street Work Plans and promoting the organization. Design Committee Get involved in enhancing the visual quality of downtown by providing design advice, encouraging quality building improvements, developing incentive programs, identifying streetscape and sign improvements and working with downtown business and property owners. Promotions Committee Get involved in quality events that attract customers, tourists and investors to the area. Projects include planning and coordinating special events, distributing promotional materials, marketing and maintenance of the Calendar of Events. Economic Restructuring Get involved in activities to improve the economic health of the downtown by recruiting new businesses, developing business and building inventories, converting available space for new usage and sharpening the competitiveness of current merchants.
