LOAVES AND FISHES SOUP KITCHEN was organized in February 1983 at Child's Restaurant in Pensacola primarily to provide meals for those people who are in need and to minister to their spiritual needs as well through counseling and prayer. We also provide temporary housing for homeless families with children and transitional housing for families who are "on their way back" to self-sufficiency. The newest addition to our ministry is our Living Well center, which is a Jesus-centered approach to working with parents and children in order to create relationships and environments that will break the cycle of homelessness and abuse. Our clothing/furniture store offers free items to those in need as well as low cost goods to the community at large. We feel that just as important as service to the poor is our need to serve God's poor. As Jesus said, "Come you have my Father's blessing! Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food. I was thirsty and you you gave me drink. I was a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me. I was ill and you comforted me, in prison and you came to visit me."
