Description of Architectura

Architectura was founded in 1985 in Chicago, Illinois, by Paul V. Satas. The firm’s work varied in size and scope from commercial projects and renovations, retail projects, corporate office interiors, historical loft building renovations and single and multi-family residential projects. The office varied in size over the years from five to fifteen Architects and produced progressively designed projects with construction budgets ranging from $100K to $15M. The diverse client base included American Eagle Airlines, Christies, Sachi & Sachi, State of Illinois and Benneton Corporation. Due to a break-up in the partnership, the firm was dissolved in 1995. Prior to founding his own firm, Mr. Satas was a Senior Associate with Pappageorge Haymes Ltd for five years and a Project Architect with Harry Weese & Associates for an additional five years, nationally renowned Architectural offices, both in Chicago, Illinois. Mr. Satas relocated back to the New England area in 1995 and accepted an Assistant Professorship in Architectural Building Technology at the New England Institute of Technology located in Warwick, RI. He also re-established Architectura, Inc. The experience of the firm in New England has included numerous commercial, corporate, institutional and state / municipal projects with particular emphasis on satisfying the needs of the project through innovative design solutions performed in a timely manner stressing quality and cost controls. Some of the projects of note include the Network RI office and training facility located at One Reservoir Avenue developed by Paolino Properties, the reconstruction and addition to the Rhode Island Lottery Headquarters Building which suffered a structural failure in 2001, the renovation of the American Tourister Mill Complex in Warren, RI for Paramount Monarch Industries, the renovations to the Warwick Police Department Headquarters and numerous HUD sponsored projects for housing authorities statewide. Current projects include a 30,000 sf Fire Station and Department Headquarters for the City of Warwick with on site training facilities; Adaptive re-use of a 300,000 sf historical mill complex located in Pawtucket into residential & commercial uses ; A 400 condominium unit retirement community in Rehoboth, MA; Ongoing projects with the Hyatt Regency of Newport; New church, auditorium and classroom facility for the 7th Day Adventist Church in Providence, RI. The firm continues its long tradition of providing quality Architectural Services in the region for state, municipal, institutional, commercial, retail and residential clients and including renovations and new construction alike
