Yavneh provides its students with a superior Limudei Kodesh program whose foundation is built upon Torah Sh'bichtav, Torah Sh'Baal Peh, Mitzvot, Middot, Ivrit, Eretz Yisrael and Medinat Yisrael. Our students are not merely analyzing text, but are learning a way of life. Hence, the primary goal of our program --in all grades-- is to instill in our children a love of learning and a passion for Yiddishkeit. In order to inspire lifetime learning, we not only provide our students with skill building to develop competency and confidence, but we inject creativity and innovation into the classroom to make text and history come alive. Enthusiastic teachers provide a wide array of memorable experiences that enhance the learning experience of students in all grades. The study of Torah actively involves students in the learning of the text, traditional commentaries and their ethical/moral lessons. The Navi curriculum familiarizes students with the texts of Neviim Rishonim, their universal messages, the political, economic and social issues that were prevalent during their lives and the impact of their prophecy. In the middle school, we begin an intense study of Gemara. Our children learn the foundation of the text and Chazal's approach to the development of Halacha. The Dinim program in the upper grades also teaches the students how to live within the framework of our tradition. The Yavneh day begins with Tefilla, which not only emphasizes familiarity with the brachot and the siddur, but also builds proficiency in the Beurei Ha-Tefilla, the concept of Kavanna and Tefilla B'tzibur. Shabbat assemblies send elementary school students home singing Zemirot, sharing stories of the Parshat Hashavuah and eagerly awaiting the arrival of the Shabbat Malka. Rosh Chodesh and Chaggim programs address contemporary student issues in innovative and engaging formats. We place a premium on the development of Middot and proper behavior. Hands on chesed opportunities enable Talmidim to practice what they learn in the classroom and sensitize them to the needs of the community at-large. We are very proud of our Ivrit program, which develops Hebrew language proficiency in conversation, creative writing and literature. Likewise, we are the only school in the region that has a distinct Jewish history curriculum, culminating in the eighth grade with an intensive analysis of the Holocaust and the emergence of the State of Israel, and a dramatic production written and presented by students. Each year, a different theme relating to these topics is chosen. The students write the script and present the program to the Middle School, other Yeshivot, public schools and the community at-large. The Limudei Kodesh program throughout all grades is geared toward instilling a love of learning and creating a passion for Yiddishkeit in all our students.
