Santiago Resort is an intimate 24 room luxury resort, marketed primarily to the Gay male community. Located in a highly desirable residential neighborhood in the largely wind-free South area, the resort is located just 10 minutes from Palm Springs Airport and just blocks from the dining and entertainment center of downtown Palm Springs. Within a 5-minute ride guests can enjoy the renown night life, including fine dining, world class entertainment, posh art galleries, and all the amenities associated with the luxuriously upgraded Spa Casino, which features just about all facets of gaming, from Poker to Blackjack and Baccarat, to a wide selection of Slot Machines to try your luck. For those guests whose interests are of a more "retail" variety, there is fine shopping, at amazing prices, just a 20-minute drive from the resort to the Outlet Shops in Cabazon. Here you will find many big-name designers including such luminaries as Armani, Ferragamo, Barney's New York, Gucci, Versace, Calvin Klein, Judith Lieber, and the list goes on and on in the nearly 200 stores at the outlet center. Parking there is free and plentiful. Should your "retail therapy" require only the finest, with price being no object, then the shopping experience on El Paseo Drive, in Palm Desert, frequently referred to as "The Rodeo Drive of the Desert" should certainly fill the bill. Here, anchored at it's heart by Saks Fifth Avenue, you will find all of the "usual suspects", including Tiffany, Brooks Brothers, Banana Republic, Williams Sonoma, and a myriad of fine jewelers and shops, some unique to this desert paradise, in virtually every retail category. The desert area is known for its unusual, and surprisingly beautiful, flora and fauna and there are numerous areas to explore the great outdoors, all located within short distance to the Santiago Resort. Walking, hiking, and rock climbing are just a few of the available outdoor activities. Despite there being so much to do in the Palm Springs area, we are proud to admit that most of our guests check in, strip down (Santiago Resort is clothing optional) and head straight for our very inviting pool (which is heated year-round to 85 degrees). Our swimming pool, new in 2006, is the largest in any gay resort in Palm Springs. It is accompanied by our equally new 10-man spa. And, all of this is surrounded by more than one acre of lush and meticulously manicured tropical gardens. Among the towering palm trees, one will find more than 50 species of plantings and cacti, many flowering and flourishing in the magnificent desert climate. And, rest assured there are plenty chaises around our beautiful pool, so enjoy your evenings, into the wee hours if you prefer, secure in the knowledge you will be able to secure your own place in the sun, poolside, no matter how late you choose to "sleep in". Given the level of relaxation here at the Santiago Resort, we have included an extended Continental Breakfast every morning featuring a plethora of choices from bagels to muffins, to 6 kinds of toast, yogurts, fresh fruit and juices, fine brewed coffee and tea, and frequently eggs, bacon and sausage, too. After these leisurely breakfasts, most guests prepare for a day of fun in the sun--that is, they choose a chaise, oil up, and prepare to spend the day tanning poolside. And, since you are more than likely intending to join them, a few hours later we serve a complimentary luncheon (usually consisting of a gourmet salads accompanied by sandwiches or other finger foods), because after you are oiled up for a tan, who wants to shower and dress to go out looking for food? And, to keep you well hydrated in the poolside sun, we offer complimentary lemonade and iced tea all day long. On select days, complimentary Margaritas and other libations are served, with small snacks, poolside later in the afternoon. And by then, most likely, you'll be ready to return to your room to clean up for a night of fun and frolic in Gay Palm Springs multitude of Gay and Gay-friendly shops, restaurants, bars and nightclubs. And what a room it will be! Totally remodeled in 2006, each room at the Santiago Resort is luxuriously appointed and meticulously maintained. All feature over-size beds with custom designer coverings and high quality sheets with plenty of plush pillows for your comfort. The bathrooms--brand new and featuring Italian tile and imported bath fixtures (including glorious Luxury showerheads and designer faucets) offer guests luxuriant Judith Jackson Spa amenities. All Santiago rooms and suites feature free internet access terminals (as well as wi fi), 27" televisions, VCRs w/DVD players, CD players, refrigerator, microwave, iron and board. And, we have equipped each guest room with a private electronic safe for your convenience and security. Can't get enough of the beautiful desert night air? Our all-new gazebo, tucked in next to the hammocks at the east end of the property, is a welcoming refuge for quiet conversation (or a bit of quasi-privacy) around our glowing firepit (weather permitting).
