VCI Internet Services, aka Vision Communications, was founded in August of 1995 as a division of Ruddata Corporation in Paducah, Kentucky. Ruddata Corporation has been in business since 1982. VCI is constantly striving to add the latest technology to our internet service in an effort to assist our customers in achieving fast and reliable internet connectivity. Listed below are a few highlights of our years in service thus far. 1995 - Founded in August by offering 28.8k dialup internet service to customers in Paducah and Madisonville. 1996 - Upgraded dialup service to 33.6k modems and began offering service to other communities surrounding Paducah and Madisonville. 1997 - Began offering web and email domain hosting. 1998 - Began offering internet service with 56k modems to nearly every community in the 270 area code. 1999 - Achieved CLEC (Competitive Local Exchange Carrier) status. Began offering WebWatch filtering service. 2000 - Began offering VirusWatch and SpamWatch email services and wireless internet service to customers in Paducah. 2001 - Began offering DSL internet service and the VCI web site began offering customizable news and weather content. 2002 - Improved SpamWatch to better detect and block spam emails. Added the ImageLocker, Planner and WebMarks to the VCI web site. 2003 - Began offering VCI Gold and installed various upgrades to SpamWatch, VirusWatch, the VCI web site and network infrastructure. 2004 - Upgraded all servers, improved existing services and expanded our DSL service. We also began VOIP & FTTU service installation. 2005 - Began offering FTTU (fiber to the user) and expects to begin offering VOIP (voice over IP) telephone service soon. 2006 - VCI began providing telephone service on the PPS FTTU system and the local Paducah area.
