Earthride is a non-profit organization that works with low-income urban youth. Our program encourages kids to overcome adverse life circumstances by looking beyond their surroundings and undergoing new experiences. Currently, Earthride uses stimulating activities such as snowboarding, skateboarding and surfing as doors to environmental appreciation. In addition we provide environmental education, including field trips to local conservation sites, to deepen the students' understanding of such issues. Earthride is based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Earthride will succeed because we use activities that are inherently appealing to generation Y as an effective way of captivating their attention, and opening doors to education. In addition, we enocourage our students to participlate in the activities multiple times. This gives them an opportunity to overcome any initial physical challanges and begin to truely enjoy the experience.
