South Coast Area Transit (SCAT), founded in 1973, is a publicly owned transit company providing bus service in Western Ventura County within the cities of Ojai, Oxnard, Port Hueneme, San Buenaventura and the unincorporated areas. The service area is approximately 91 square miles and has a population of 334,651. Approximately 3.2 million riders annually use SCAT's fleet of 50 buses to get where they need to go. SCAT's bus routes are selected based on ongoing research and public input, to give our passengers the best access to their destination. Approximately 108,000 riders annually use SCAT ACCESS' 22 vans and minibuses to get where they need to go. ACCESS service is provided to meet all demand for service in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). SCAT was a pioneer in the use of alternate fuel because of our commitment to a cleaner environment. The SCAT fleet of transit buses and paratransit vans and minibuses operate on clean burning compressed natural gas (CNG) fuel.
