Vision-Sciences, Inc. (Vision-Sciences) designs, develops, manufactures and markets products for endoscopy, which the science of using an instrument, known as an endoscope, to provide minimally invasive access to areas not readily visible to the human eye. The Company operates in three reportable segments: medical, industrial, and health services. The medical segment designs, manufactures and sells its advanced line of endoscopy-based products for a variety of specialties, including its flexible endoscopes, and its Slide-On EndoSheath technology (Sheath or EndoSheath disposable). The industrial segment, through its wholly owned subsidiary, Machida, Inc., designs, manufactures and sells borescopes to a variety of users, primarily in the aircraft engine-manufacturing and aircraft engine-maintenance industries. On October 1, 2007, Vision-Sciences purchased the assets of Best Dysphagia Management, Inc., which specializes in providing bedside endoscopic swallowing test (BEST).(Source: 10-K)
