Since 1998, the Worldwide Water foundation has been involved in well-drilling and water resource projects in Romania and Russia. During this time, founder Edral Adams saw the need for a ship to lift and transport heavy drilling equipment, carry large quantities of humanitarian goods and provide entry to inaccessible areas. Adams invested two years and funded the search for such a ship. THE VESSEL REVIVAL, (pictured above) a 3000-ton heavy lift ship, was built in 1978 for international trading. She was purchased by the U.S. Maritime Association in 1980 and placed in the ready reserve fleet where she has been stored under strict maintenance standards in fresh water. THE VESSEL REVIVAL was purchased by the Worldwide Water Foundation on December 17, 1999. It literally took an Act of Congress to pass legislation to allow the ship to be released for sale. With the help of Senator Max Cleland (DEM-GA) Senator Kay Baily Hutcheson ( REP-TX) and Senator Trent Lott (REP-MS), founder Adams was able to get the bill signed into Public Law 105-383 by President Clinton and purchase the ship. While the VESSEL REVIVAL is in excellent shape, she needs work to bring her up to Coast Guard standards. Currently docked in Orange, Texas, she awaits the funds necessary to bring her into commission for her finest hour. The Worldwide Water Foundation has an experienced crew of professionals from the shipping, well-drilling, corporate and nonprofit arenas. Along with founder Edral Adams, a drilling veteran with over 20 years of experience around the world, Worldwide Water's Board of Directors and Field Teams provide a solid foundation of guidance and expertise.
