Velcan Energy is a France-based independent power producer specializing in the production and trade of renewable energy from hydroelectric power and biomass combustion. The Company develops, finances and operates power generating plants located in India and Brazil. Its installations are mainly hydropower plants with a capacity comprised between 15 and 100 megawatts (MW). It operates two biomass power plants of 15 MW capacity in India. During 2007, the Company acquired two hydroelectric concessions in Brazil, PCH Rodeio Bonito (14.7 MW) and PCH Rio Das Mortes (60MW). Velcan Energy has subsidiaries in France, India, Brazil and the United Arab Emirates. The Company's carbon credits are sold in Europe and the energy produced in both India and Brazil is sold locally to state utilities or industrial sites.
