DLR Group was pleased to announnce the promotion of nine new Principals during its Annual Meeting: Martin Berglund, AIA, LEED AP - Omaha, NEKarl Derrah, AIA - Phoenix, AZJeff Fenimore, AIA - Minneapolis, MNTimothy Gibson, AIA - Orlando, FLKevin Greischar, RA - Overland Park, KSJim Huse, RA - Des Moines, IATodd Mack, PE - Omaha, NETom Mitchell - Overland Park, KSGary Worthy, AIA, ASLA - Phoenix, AZMartin Berglund, a member of DLR Group's Justice Team, specializes in state and private correctional facilities, law enforcement facilities and county jails. Berglund's involvement is primarily focused in programming, pre-design and schematic design. Berglund, who earned two masters degrees from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, has been with DLR Group since 1999. His experience includes the Nebraska Correctional Center for Women in York, NE, the La Vista Police facility and numerous correction and detention facilities across the United States for Corrections Corporation of America (CCA). Karl Derrah, AIA has been the project designer for numerous DLR Group award-winning projects. A University of Arizona graduate, he was the lead designer for the Yavapai College - Chino Valley Agribusiness + Science Technology Center, which was Arizona's first LEED certified building. He was also the project designer for the Yavapai College Main Campus Master Plan and award-winning Yavapai College Boyd Tenney Library in Prescott. In California, Karl led the design team on the new Los Rios Community College Campus and Washington Unified School District's New Comprehensive High School, both located in West Sacramento. Karl is especially proud of the work DLR Group has performed on the recently completed Betty H. Fairfax High School in Phoenix, Arizona. Jeff Fenimore is a leader in DLR Group's higher education practice and is a member of DLR Group's national Higher Education Forum. With 20 years of architectural experience, Fenimore is recognized for his strong leadership abilities, award-winning designs, and solid understanding of higher education facility needs. An Iowa State University graduate, Fenimore has provided architectural services at a number of colleges and universities including Iowa State University, University of Minnesota, Des Moines Area Community College, Anoka Ramsey Community College, Simpson College, Century College and many more. Tim Gibson has spent his 19-year architectural career specializing in justice, correctional and government facilities. He's been directly involved with the design of adult correctional facilities, juvenile detention facilities, courthouses, administration buildings, law enforcement facilities and juvenile boot camps. Gibson, a University of Florida alumnus, has contributed to the design of the Alachua County Criminal Courthouse in Gainesville, Florida; the Hillsborough County Falkenburg Road Jail in Tampa, Florida and the Seminole County Jail, in Sanford, Florida. Tim joined DLR in 1998. Kevin Greischar is the K-12 Market Sector Leader in the Kansas City region, bringing extensive architectural knowledge and skills to his roles of Principal-in-Charge and Project Manager. Greischar has been responsible for designing, reviewing and programming over six million square feet of educational space in more than 25 years. A Kansas State University grad, Greischar has also been a contributing author and juror for American School and University magazine. Greischar has worked with the Blue Valley School District on several projects, including Lakewood Middle School and Middle School #10, which is currently in design. He also is working on the Dr. Miriam and Sheldon G. Adelson School in Las Vegas, which is under construction. Jim Huse, DLR Group Project Leader, is focused on quality assurance thoroughness in the preparation of drawings, specifications and compliance with budget parameters based on his in-depth understanding of the planning, programming and design processes. A University of Nebraska-Lincoln graduate and 15-year employee with DLR Group, Huse also serves on DLR's Quality Assurance Forum. Todd Mack joined DLR Group in 1999 and is a Senior Project Engineer with 20 years of experience. He provides quality assurance, creativity and leadership for the mechanical engineering discipline. He serves as a technical resource in optimizing the mechanical systems designs as part of the integrated design process. He is currently working on the Union Pacific Harriman Dispatch Center, the Holland Computing Center at the Peter Kiewit Institute, Oriental Trading Company and the South Omaha Branch Library. Mack received his degree from South Dakota State University. Tom Mitchell, Business Development Leader, pursues projects across the country for DLR Group. Mitchell, who has been with DLR Group for six years, coordinates with corporate, K-12 education, higher education and justice market leaders to strategize marketing and business development efforts and is the national business development leader for the hospitality market. Mitchell is a resource for other business development professionals in the firm. He is very active on many Kansas City area boards, charitable organizations and other "relationship" building organizations and is instrumental in establishing key business relationships that foster the growth and success of DLR Group. Some of his current clients include RED Development, Garfield Traub Development and Townsend Inc. Mitchell received his BS from Kansas State University and his master's from University of Missouri - Kansas City. As Design Leader for the Phoenix office, Gary Worthy brings an extensive portfolio of national and international experience. His extensive resume includes outstanding design achievements in higher education, corporate and government sectors. Numerous projects have received design awards by the American Institute of Architects. His work has been published in USA Today, Architecture Record, World Architecture and Wallpaper magazine. The highly published National Air and Space Museum Annex of the Smithsonian Museum was featured on the NBC Nightly News. Worth is an architect and landscape architect with two master's degrees from Harvard University.
