Island Sailing was founded in 1979 in Portland, Oregon and has expanded to locations in Olympia, Washington and Kirkland, Washington (near Seattle). Island Sailing is sailing school offering sailing classes and instruction, sailing club, charters and sailboat rentals. We sail year round on the Columbia River, South Puget Sound and Lake Washington. Experience breathtaking views of Mt. Hood, the Seattle skyline, the Olympics, great Puget Sound Sailing. Island Sailing builds upon the experience of 31 years of teaching, club and charter management. Learn to sail. Sailing classes include ASA 101 basic sailing, ASA 103 coastal cruising, ASA 104 bareboat chartering, ASA 105 coastal navigation, ASA 120 radar endorsement, spinnaker and can arrange advanced classes such as ASA 106 advanced coastal and ASA 108 offshore passage making. Island Sailing is an American Sailing Association Certification Facility and offers ASA sailing certifications. Private Sailing Instruction. Seminars include docking, heavy weather, reefing, sail trim, outboard engines and many more. Island Sailing employs sailing instructors throughout the Pacific Northwest, and offers USCG OUPV and Master licensing courses at select locations. Join the club. Island Sailing Club offers sailing enthusiasts group activities as well as sailing club boats. Sailing enthusiasts share a passion for sailing. The Racing Group competes in Portland on Monday nights. The Cruising Group sails periodically from all three locations. Sailboats (keelboats) include Schock Santana 20, Wavelength 24, Santana 23, Santana 25, Catalina Capri 22, Catalina 25, Cal 22, Cal 27, Zap 26, Hunter 27, Impulse 21, J-22, Catalina 30, and O'Day 25. Island Sailing rents sailboats and charters throughout the Pacific Northwest. Sailing partners open opportunities to sail in Tacoma. Island Sailing supports Heart of Sailing recreational sailing programs for autistic and disabled children, and Island Sailing was awarded the Oregon Health Care Foundation's (OHCF) Community Champion Award. Island Sailing sails out of Columbia Crossings in Tomahawk Bay Marina on Hayden Island, the Port of Olympia's Swantown Marina, and the South Dock of the City of Kirkland Park and Community Services. Island Sailing works closely with the sailing community in Portland, Olympia and Kirkland. Company programs include Sailing Wellness programs, team building and team bonding. Sailing is green, and Island Sailing believes in a sailor's responsibility as a steward of environmental sustainability. Island Sailing's Junior Sailing program and Junior camp supports young sailors.
