At Morning Star Church, our focus is on people. We are committed to helping people build relationships--with God and with one another. We believe that the significance and quality of our lives can be measured by our relationships. In fact, that's what our Statement of Purpose is all about: Reaching Up to God, Reaching In to ourselves, Reaching Out to our community. Pastor Mike Schreiner was sent by the United Methodist Church to O'Fallon in 1998 for one purpose: to start a vital new regional ministry where unchurched and dechurched persons could find Christ and true community. After spending a year working with a core group discerning God's Vision and developing a plan, the ministry was launched on September 12, 1999. That day, the Biltmore Banquet Centre (now The Christy) was transformed into the initial, temporary worship facility of Morning Star Church. Since that first Sunday, God has done great things in our midst! In November 2000, a second Sunday morning worship service was added at to make room for the growing number of people. Then in October 2003, in coordination with the 40 Days of Purpose Campaign, we added a third worship service. In just five years, Morning Star Church has grown from a core group of 40 to a congregation that averages over 450 in worship! Along the way we decided to, literally, ground the Vision. In 2001, we voted to purchase 25-acres of land on Feise Road, between O'Fallon and Lake St. Louis. This was a huge "step of faith" for such a young congregation, but by the grace of God and the willing hearts of so many here at MSC, we secured the ground where we would someday build. Working though the ministries of our church, God's Spirit has touched so many lives. Dozens of people have committed or recommitted their lives to growing as disciples of Jesus Christ. Each Sunday, between five and ten new families come to worship with us! Weekly worship attendance has increased by 100 since last year. Adult small groups are growing and multiplying. The Youth are reaching out to their friends. And the number of children continues to increase exponentially. We have seen amazing growth each year. But our current facilities can't maintain this momentum. We are preparing for the future by continuing to make room for the hundreds, even thousands, of families in our area who are searching for Christ and authentic community.
