Do you sell hats or buy hats? No, we do not buy or sell hats. However many of the companies listed on our site do. Please visit the companies listed under the various sub-headings e.g. manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers etc . 3. Which Directories / Search Engines are you registered with? We are listed with Yahoo (both UK & Ireland and Yahoo.com), the Open Directory (DMOZ), the UK Directory, AOL and NBCi (formerly Snap). Our site is also listed with the following search engines - Alta Vista, Alta Vista (UK), Direct Hit, Excite, Excite (UK), Google, Hot Bot, Lycos, Mirago, Northern Light, UK Plus, What U Seek and Whats Nu. 4. How many visitors do you get to the site? The site was launched in October 2000. Since January 2001 we have monitored the number of visitors - not 'hits', a term frequently but misleadingly used. A 'hit' is a term used to describe any graphic or any page requested from the server. Therefore if you have a page with 9 graphics this would translate as a total of 10 hits. The number of visitors has risen from about 300 per month in January to over 1600 per month over a period of 2 months. This represents an increase of over 500% in less than 3 months. The number of unique visitors continues to grow at a considerable rate. 5. Who are your visitors? We have a broad spectrum of visitors. From manufacturers of hats and caps in America to retailers of headwear in the UK, Europe and the Far East and from students of millinery to those supplying services / raw materials to the hat trade. 6. Why should I pay to be on your site? Like any business we have overheads but unlike most websites which offer a free service we have not benefited from any venture capital to enable us to do this. Instead, common to all businesses, we rely on revenue generated by the site to cover our overheads. 7. What do you charge? We charge as little as GBP 39.00 per year to have your company details listed together with your company profile, logo and / or picture. This represents excellent value for money. Most traditional forms of advertising would cost you 100s, if not 1000s of GB pounds, for advertising for an entire year. 8. Who runs The Hat Site? The hat site is run by two individuals. One who has many years of experience within the headwear industry and one who is a specialist in website design and development.
