Newport Sports Museum is a non-profit 501(c)(3)sports memorabilia museum and educational center dedicated to mentoring children and preserving the history of sport. The Museum utilizes well-known athletes to educate today's youth about the importance of staying in school and athletics, off of drugs and out of gangs. Over 100 professional athletes donate their time and memorabilia to assist with the Museum's youth outreach programs, and more than 20,000 children have met with an athlete in the past five years alone. The Museum's programs reach out to children by treating them to motivational talks that capture their attention and provide role models they recognize, relate to, and willingly listen to.
