Info

Since 1998, Worth has focused on publishing in the social sciences, where a number of Worth titles dominate market share for their courses, including David Myers' Psychology and Exploring Psychology (and the modular versions of each), Kathleen Berger's The Developing Person Through Childhood and Adolescence, and The Developing Person Through the Lifespan, and Gregory Mankiw's Macroeconomics. Other bestselling Worth titles include Krugman and Wells' Economics, Hockenbury/Hockenbury's Psychology and Discovering Psychology, and Comer's Abnormal Psychology and Fundamentals of Abnormal Psychology. Worth was also the original publisher of a number of groundbreaking science textbooks. Biochemistry (Albert Lehninger, David Nelson, and Michael Cox), Biology of Plants (Peter Raven, Ray Evert, and Susan Eichhorn), and Physics for Scientists and Engineers (Paul Tipler and Gene Mosca) continue to be formidable sellers (these titles are now published by W. H. Freeman, another member of the Bedford, Freeman, and Worth Publishing Group. Today Worth continues to expand sales on its signature titles while introducing dynamic new textbooks. Paul Krugman and Robin Wells' Economics (with its Canadian, International, and essentials versions) is the bestselling new text for the introductory economics course in a decade. The Krugman/Wells text, along with Jon Gruber's Public Finance and Public Policy, mark the beginning of a major expansion of Worth's economics list, which will soon add highly anticipated new textbooks in microeconomics (Austan Goolsbee and Steve Leavitt), money and banking (John Ball), and international economics (Feenstra and Taylor). In psychology, major new upcoming titles include an introductory text from Daniel Schacter, Daniel Gilbert, and Daniel Wegner as well as a new lifespan development text by Janet Belsky. Worth has also become a leading producer of media for teachers and students, including the new Online Study Centers, e-libraries, and ActivePsych for introductory psychology courses, Media Tool Kits for developmental psychology, and the new PsychPortal, a state-of-the-art Online Homework Center and Learning Management Solution that brings together the full range of electronic teaching and learning tools for specific titles in one convenient, easy-to-use site.
