Info

Web Zeit is working with the Harlem Education Activities Fund (www.heaf.org) to create a Web site, build online marketing and establish an online community of HEAF students, teachers, alumni, family and friends. The informational site serves the HEAF community, students, teachers, alumni, as well as media, volunteers and donors. Located in New York City, HEAF is a comprehensive college preparatory program that helps motivated students develop the skills, knowledge and confidence they need to ensure success in school, career and life. The site contains information about HEAF, its programs and successes, a scrapbook of student work and recent activities, and an online newsletter. There are password protected "Members Zone" areas for students and teachers to chat online and post messages. Several video segments show HEAF students, alumni and educators sharing their thoughts about HEAF programs "in their own words." A virtual tour of HEAF classrooms and activity centers provides an interactive map of HEAF plus 360-degree panoramas of spaces. A new approach to online donations allows users to donate money via a secure Web donation form, and also enables visitors to donate frequent flier miles or get involved as a mentor or volunteer. Another important feature is an email-for-life application, which allows HEAF students and others to create an email account that forwards email to them wherever they are. The site also includes a press section with articles about HEAF, and information about recent and upcoming news and events. The site's diverse resources for students include information about choosing and getting into college, with links to sites for college tips, financial aid and applications. Resources for educators include a comprehensive chess guide for teachers with information on clubs, lessons, setting up a tournament and more. The site will help HEAF to achieve its mission, promote itself and communicate with students, mentors and other members of the HEAF community. Founded in 1989, when the program began, only nine per-cent of the students were performing at or above grade level in reading, eleven per-cent in math. Today HEAF boasts an impressive roster of college graduates and a wide array of programs. 99 per-cent of students who completed HEAF have gone on to attend college. Web Zeit works with HEAF and other not-for-profit organizations, including the Mandela Institute, New York City Outward Bound, Figure This! and American Field Service, helping to provide affordable, highest caliber Web, marketing and communications services to organizations around the world.
