Info
TRANSPORT GROUP was founded in 2001 as a not-for-profit theatre company located in New York City. The original co-founders were Jack Cummings III and Robyn Hussa. TRANSPORT GROUP specializes in works that focus on American life by American authors. The company is dedicated to both original and existing works as well as both plays and musicals. TRANSPORT GROUP's first production was a revival of Thornton Wilder's classic Our Town in February of 2002. By the spring of 2007, TRANSPORT GROUP has produced 8 productions including 4 musicals and 4 plays comprised of 4 revivals and 4 world premieres. TRANSPORT GROUP's recently concluded sixth season included the first New York revival of the Pulitzer-Prize winning play, All The Way Home by Tad Mosel and the 50th Anniversary production of William Inge's classic, The Dark at the Top of the Stairs. In addition, for TRANSPORT GROUP's 2006-2007 outreach program, co-founder Robyn Hussa created an arts-in-education program called Normal In The Schools (NIS), which brought an educational version of the musical Normal, to Wisconsin's Greendale High School. Normal is written by Yvonne Adrian, Tom Kochan, and Cheryl Stern and developed by Jack Cummings III. Originally produced by TRANSPORT GROUP in 2005, Normal is based on Yvonne Adrian's true story of her teenage daughter's eating disorder and their family's struggle to find healing and redemption. NIS enjoyed a succesful run and residency at Greendale High School, changing the lives of students, teachers, and parents alike.
