At Rothschild we are committed to developing long term, mutually beneficial relationships with schools, charities and community organisations local to our offices. All UK employees are entitled to spend two paid days per year volunteering, and additionally to get involved at their discretion in ongoing weekly volunteering initiatives. New graduates have for the past ten years spent a week volunteering at a local school as part of their training. We prioritise community partnerships which offer the potential to effect real and measurable change in the lives of those who use the services of the partner organisation. We believe there are real benefits to the Firm and its business in developing a culture of volunteering. The Rothschild in the Community Committee is chaired by Anthony Salz, Executive Vice-Chairman, and each business and support division is represented on the committee at a senior level. Our most established community relationship is with Bow School in Tower Hamlets, where volunteers take part in a wide range of activities including literacy and numeracy support, employability workshops and an after-school art club. New partnerships focussing on employability and social inclusion are currently in development. Last year 18% of UK employees took part in our community programme.
