Info

Seventeen years in the business, OptiTex is the leading developer of CAD/CAM software solutions for manufacturers of industrial fabrics, apparel, upholstery, transportation, composites, homes furnishings and other sewn products. Customers include Land's End, Target, Vanity, Guess Jeans, and auto manufacturers BMW, Porsche, and Toyota. OptiTex's software solutions are deployed both at head offices of companies and on site at manufacturing facilities. 3D simulation offers the user a suite of tools to simulate all pre-production activities, including stitching, fitting, visualization, texture and color variation. The product is especially helpful in managing client specifications, since 3D images can be transmitted with adjustments to the product instead of sending samples. "The result is a clear reduction of development time and the cost involved in multiple iterations of sample garment production," says Saar Machtinger, West Asia Region Manager. The program for a 3D mannequin has 40 precise adjustable body measurements. Users can create their own specific base size mannequins, saving a great amount of time during fittings. The company recent closed a deal to provide fashion design workstations to China's Suzhour Art & Design Technology Institute. Some 30 percent to 35 percent of OptiTex's sales are to the Far East. Europe accounts for 38 percent of sales, whereas 13 percent of sales are to North America, 7 percent to South America, 2 percent to India and 5 percent to Israel. Only about 30 percent of textile operators worldwide are computerized, according to OptiTex. The company believes it is ready and able to meet the expected increase in global demand for textile software. OptiTex is undergoing a period of expansion, and is aiming to expand its market reach. It is the first company to use the Microsoft Windows standard and to offer a fully integrated 2D and 3D solution. "We are always pushing the technological envelope with our constant drive toward the cutting-edge," says Machtinger. OptiTex was established in 1988 by Ran Machtinger, who is the CEO and owner of the company.
