Lighthouse International
Non-Profit
Info
Founded in 1905, Lighthouse International is the leading non-profit organization worldwide dedicated to preserving vision and to helping people of all ages overcome the challenges of vision loss through a variety of programs and services. Children's Services begin with our early intervention program, which helps infants born with vision loss reach important developmental milestones. Our integrated preschool welcomes children who are sighted and visually impaired for an enriched educational experience for all. Low Vision Center provides specialized eye exams by low vision doctors to evaluate a person-s remaining vision and overall visual function to help maximize existing vision -- often with the use of prescribed optical devices. Youth Services enable teens with vision loss to build confidence and independent living skills to achieve success in school and, ultimately, in the working world. Mental Health and Social Services provide emotional support to help people - and their families - cope with vision loss at any stage of life. Career Services enable people with vision loss to prepare for, obtain or retain a job. We also match employers with qualified candidates. Orientation & Mobility Training helps people travel safely, take public transportation on their own, and prevent falls and injuries.
