The focus of the firm's practice is in the areas of corporate and securities law, tax, litigation, estate planning and administration, trade regulation, trademark/copyright, creditors' rights/bankruptcy and real estate law. The firm has developed particular expertise in a variety of "niches," including representation of "hedge funds" and other money managers, investment advisors and broker/dealers; strategic tax planning; middle-market mergers and acquisitions; estate planning for business owners; employment contracts of CEO's and other senior corporate officers; trademark licensing; and corporate, commercial, securities and trade regulation litigation. We practice law with the quality and sophistication of a big firm but with small firm personal involvement. Our clients' needs are our first priority. In November 2001, we celebrated our thirtieth anniversary as a secure, growing, stable institution. It's a place where the partners like each other and share a vision of the future. We are counsel to the executor of the Estate of Jim Henson (the creator of the Muppets) and to more than 35 estates. We plan more than one substantial estate per week. While we have done work for TWA and Invensys (a U.K. corporation with $17 billion in sales, about half of which are generated in the U.S.) and other Fortune 500 corporations and smaller public companies, the majority of our clients are privately-held, prominent family businesses. These businesses and their owners need the same level of legal skill that a Fortune 500 company requires, plus an understanding of the unique problems facing a small or closely held business.
