Founded in 1977, originally incorporated as Delaware Micrographics, Inc. , our initial service offering was Computer Output Microfiche (COM) to the banking and utility industries. COM was the technology of choice at the time because it could be quickly produced for distribution and was cost-effective, thereby showing a quick Return-On-Investment to the end-user. Interestingly enough, albeit an older technology and application dependent, COM may still be an appropriate technology application, as an example, in long-term archival environments. For some of our clients, DMI continues to create COM for their long-term archival needs while simultaneously creating Computer Output Laser Disc (COLD) for their desktop access requirements. DMI has been built on offering products and services that have demonstrated Return-On-Investment. It has always been the promise of technology that technology would make us more productive, giving us the opportunity to do "more with less. " Unfortunately, it seems that many of the technologies that have evolved over the past two decades, have not delivered on this promise. In fact, it almost seems as if some of these technologies have actually created more work for us.
