Info

The New Britain Museum of American Art, founded in 1903, was the first institution in this country devoted to collecting and exhibiting American art. The paintings and sculptures in the Maximilian E. and Marion O. Hoffman Foundation Gallery will serve as an introduction to the works in a variety of media that are presented chronologically in the ten galleries on the first and second floors. The Museum's collection comprises more than five thousand works and is constantly expanding in an effort to reflect our ever-evolving culture. The permanent holdings are rotated periodically, complemented by recent acquisitions. Special exhibitions and displays in the experimental NEW/NOW Gallery change every three months. To enhance your visit, free Acoustiguides, offering explanations of highlights of the collection, and Family Fun Guides are available at the Visitor Services desk. Please visit the Museum Shop and Café on the Park.
