MONOC's Medical Advisory Board is composed of emergency department physicians from each of the seven mobile intensive care system participating hospitals, a system cardiologist and a system medical intensivist. MONOC was formed in 1978 as "a cooperative venture to improve health care and reduce costs." Among its numerous projects, MONOC operates four main programs: Mobile Intensive Care Services, Mobile Critical Care Services, EMS and Transport Basic Life Support Services and EMS educational courses. Through its affiliate, the Monmouth Ocean Healthcare Co-operative, other specialty programs are provided, including group purchasing and personnel agency services. MONOC employs over 850 staff and operates within a $67 Million annual budget. Last year, the company responded to more than 100,000 requests for emergency and medical transport services.
