Thumbwick Candles

Thumbwick Candles first opened in July of 2004, in Neenah, Wisconsin, as a website only shop. Each soybean wax candle is hand-poured, not mass-manufactured. Our final product is based on extensive testing to find the cleanest burning soybean wax with the most beautiful appearance. Different types and sizes of wicks were tested to make a candle that would burn evenly, to avoid wasted wax on the sides of jar candles. Earth friendly dyes and soybean oil based fragrance oils were chosen, in order to make the purest scented candle possible. Absolutely no lead, or other metal cores are present in our wicks. Our wax is not a blend of soy and paraffin. It is 100% soy wax, with a natural, plant-based additive to improve hardness and appearance. We also use wicks coated with vegetable wax, in order to keep our candles free of beeswax, or any other animal by-product. The prices of our products have very little markup. We do not sell wholesale. We sell directly to our customers, so that we can set a price that virtually everyone can afford. We want our products to be a little luxury that anyone can enjoy. We believe strongly in the use of renewable, biodegradable resources like soybean wax and oil, as an alternative to petroleum products such as paraffin wax and mineral oil. We aim for minimal waste packaging on our products. We do not buy styrofoam packing peanuts new. If you receive them with your order, you can be confident that they are being re-used, and we encourage you to further re-use them again. Thumbwick Candles is an animal friendly company. We are opposed to the use of animal testing, and we make every attempt to buy our raw materials from animal friendly companies.
