In 1904, our founder, Ellen G. White, helped to purchase 54 acres of land with the purpose of beginning a healthcare institution, Paradise Valley Hospital. Paradise Valley Hospital is the South Bay's oldest hospital. In fact, we are the second oldest hospital in all of San Diego County, and the largest employer in National City. For more than 103 years, Paradise Valley Hospital has served San Diego faithfully, proud of our heritage and providing numerous programs and services to meet the changing needs of our community. Today, our 301-bed, acute care hospital offers a nationally acclaimed Obstetrics program, the South Bay's only life saving 64-slice CT scanner, a renowned rehabilitation center, the only Hyperbaric Medicine program in the South Bay and distinguished Behavioral Health services. Paradise Valley Hospital also offers 24-hour Emergency Services, Cardiac Catheterization Lab, comprehensive surgical services, Inpatient Medical and Surgical Center, and Paradise Senior Health Center. It is our vision of treating the whole person , mind, body and spirit, which incorporates our long heritage of Wellness and Prevention ideals, now considered progressive; including practicing healthy lifestyle through diet, exercise and services like our massage therapy and acupuncture offered through our Wellness Center. Nutrition counseling, smoking cessation classes, weight and stress management classes, and health screenings are just a few of our many offerings. The hospital also provides school partnership programs, which provide tutorial assistance and encouragement to local students, and many other programs and services designed to meet the needs of the surrounding community. Even at the mature age of 103, we are progressive in our approach to healthcare. Paradise Valley Hospital boasts a multi-cultural staff of more than 300 physicians representing a variety of specialties. We are a part of Prime Healthcare Services, Inc., a for-profit, health system based in Victorville, California. Founded by Dr. Prem Reddy, Prime Healthcare Services, Inc. is comprised of eight hospitals with more than 1,500 beds, 5000 employees, numerous clinics and outpatient facilities.
