WTVF-TV produces the highest-quality 10 p.m. newscast in Nashville according to a nationwide study of local television news by the Project for Excellence in Journalism. The 10 p.m. newscast earned an "A" grade based on the study's criteria of what a local news station should provide to its community. The station's overall score placed it in 11th place among the 53 stations studied. NewsChannel 5 stood out for covering a broad range of topics and did a better than average job on including a variety of viewpoints in its stories. The study also ranked Nashville 9th out of 17 cities overall for news quality.
