H3GM assisted American Esoteric Laboratories (AEL), a full-service provider of esoteric clinical laboratory services to hospitals and specialist physicians, in obtaining $70 million in equity financing from ABS Capital Partners, a leading private equity firm focused on investing in established and profitable growth companies, and Oak Investment Partners, a growth-oriented private equity firm. AEL was founded by laboratory industry veterans Brian Carr and Jim Billington. AEL is a platform company that has been designed to better serve the unique turn-around-time and quality demands for clinical esoteric testing services of hospitals and specialist physicians. Esoteric testing provides physicians with the clinical information required to complete a diagnosis, establish a prognosis, or to choose and monitor a therapeutic regimen. The company performs solely clinical esoteric testing and therefore doesn't compete with its hospital customers in the routine test market.
