IMC Phosphates is a division of IMC Global, based in Lake Forest, Ill., and is the largest global producer and supplier of phosphate products. IMC produces and markets phosphate-based agricultural fertilizers and animal feed supplements that are used by agricultural producers domestically and around the world, including many developing countries. In Florida, IMC's 2,800-person workforce makes it one of Polk County's largest employers. IMC is a large Florida landowner, owning or leasing the mineral rights to more than 220,000 acres in the state. The company's four central Florida phosphate rock mines have an annual capacity of more than 18 million short tons.
