Caminos was established in April, 2001 for the purpose of providing contract resources, most specifically NWCG Type 3x Compressed Air Foam (CAF) fire engines, for fighting forest fires and wildland fires. Caminos specializes in Urban/Interface fire protection. Caminos Fire maintains EERA's with BLM in Region 3 and Arizona State Land Department. In 2001, Caminos established one fire engine (Engine-1) affectionately named "EL MAC", an International 4800 utilizing a Pneumax model 250/120 CAF unit and 600 gallons of water. The three firefighter unit was placed in service on Friday, August 17, 2001. In April, 2004, Caminos Fire added a 2004 Toyota Pick-Up (C-1) for use as Incident Command Type 4 (ICT4), Strike Team Leader for engines (STEN) or Single Resource Crew Boss (SRBC). Improvements are continually made to the engine, including top mounted equipment baskets, additional compartments, booster line hose reel, and a pump and roll capable front bumper turret.
