Turning Point Family Care is a professional foster care agency that provides therapeutic foster care and other mental health services for at-risk children and their families. Our goal is to provide nurturing homes for difficult-to-place children in need of temporary substitute care. In order to accomplish this, Turning Point Family Care makes use of professionally trained foster parents who provide a therapeutic environment within their own home. Turning Point Family Care provides services for abused, neglected and dependent youth; with youth with drug and alcohol dependencies, behavioral problems, emotionally disturbances, mental delays, physical challenges and children with special medical needs. Additionally, Turning Point Family Care offers an array of wraparound therapeutic services and specialized programs oriented toward the goal of family unity and stability. Turning Point Family Care strongly advocates a variety of in-home interventions as the initial step in a family crisis. If the in-home interventions prove unsuccessful or are not possible, then alternative living situations that utilize professionally trained treatment foster parents are in order. Then, once the child-in-crisis is stabilized through professional therapeutic services, the goal is to transition the child back home or to a less restrictive out-of-placement. In many cases, the child placed in the Turning Point Family Care foster home will not have to leave his/her current placement because of the need to transition from a high level of therapeutic care to a lower level of care. Turning Point Family Care offers a Step-up and a Step-down program, meaning that the level of therapeutic services may go up or down depending on the child's needs without ever having to move the child from foster home to foster home. Turning Point Family Care advocates for the most appropriate and least restrictive foster care placement. Additionally, Turning Point Family Care advocates the use of community resources, such as athletics and performing arts, designed to support the treatment foster parents in the care of the child. Our goal is to utilize every possible community-based program to help the child get "plugged" into his/her community. Turning Point Family Care holds the belief that the out-of-home therapeutic placement should be a SHORT-TERM OPTION only. With Turning Point Family Care the ultimate goal is reunification with the primary family, kinship care, adoption, or transition to a lower level of care as quickly as possible. Turning Point Family Care has designed a seamless continuum of cost-effective care as we view our foster care programs as a bridge to a more stable and secure living environment for the children entrusted in our care.
