The Akumal Dive Shop is one of the first scuba diving facilities in the Yucatan and is often referred to as the "Original" Akumal Dive Shop. For over thirty years the dive shop has conducted open water dives on the coral reefs in front of the small village of Akumal. We are "the real thing". The Akumal Dive Shop is a Five Star PADI Training Facility and Instructor Development Center specializing in recreational snorkeling and scuba diving. At the Akumal Dive Shop, anyone considering entry level or continuing education as a recreational scuba diver can expect the highest level of professionalism. We are here to help you better enjoy our underwater world. Scuba diving is fun! Our recreational courses are designed to be pleasurable while you accomplish your goal of learning the new and exciting details of diving. The Akumal Dive Shop offers an easy-going learning experience because we teach small classes, offer private courses and really give you personal attention. We have a highly qualified team of instructors with diversified backgrounds to offer you the specialized service you want. Akumal's calm and clear Caribbean waters present a very safe place to learn scuba diving. The weather is fantastic year round and the water temperature averages between 78 and 82 degrees. As you review our catalog you will see we offer a complete selection of dive certification courses all of which are taught by certified instructors. Many of these courses are offered by other PADI facilities. But there is a difference. We believe this is your course. We are here for you not the other way around, as you will find at many locations. Due to the personal nature of scuba not all students learn at the same speed. The instructors at the Akumal Dive Shop work at your pace and help you understand the unique and fragile nature of our environment. Our courses are not the rigidly formatted diving instruction you may be familiar with. As with many of our previous students, you most likely will return to the Akumal Dive Shop for additional courses.
