Moore Oil Company LLC. is owned an operated by James W. Moore Jr., and is based in Monroe, LA. Monroe is located in Northern Louisiana along interstate 20 directly between Shreveport, LA and Jackson, MS. Moore Oil Company LLC. is engaged in the business of operating convenience stores and petroleum wholesaling to wholesale and retail customers. The company was founded shortly after World War II by Walter W. Kellogg, and named Kellogg Oil Company. In the year after World War II, Mr. Kellogg became an Amoco jobber and built a number of successful full service stations and a commercial bulk plant while managing a service station. Mr. Moore quickly learned the business and advanced to general manager for all the service stations. In 1961, Mr. Kellogg retired from the business and Mr. Moore bought 100% of the stock of Kellogg Oil Company and renamed the company Kellogg-Moore Oil Co. Mr. Moore Sr. continued to operate the service station business and expanded the business until his death in 1977. Upon his death Mr. Moore left the company to his son James W. Moore Jr., who had been working for the company. James W Moore Jr. changed the name to Moore Oil Company Inc. and began to concentrate on converting his service stations from full service to self-service with convenience stores, called Stop-n-Save, marketing Shell branded gasoline. In 1999, Moore acquired the Chevron and Exxon brands and expanded its gasoline and convenience store offerings in North Louisiana. Finally in 2003 the name was changed to Moore Oil Company LLC.
